Kevin once asked
me if I felt experienced enough to make a wedding dress, and, always enjoying
a challenge, I said yes. His wife Jun is fortunately a similar size to me,
because the dress design she wanted, even though it looked much simpler than
many things I had done, was in fact absolutely complicated. You see the low
back? Well, imagine the curve of the back, and a piece of fabric. The fabric,
(non stretchy in this case) opens up and shows everything which should not
be shown, wether it is under the arms, or around the waist. It was a problematic
challenge! After having done 2 or 3 copies, specimen and prototypes dresses,
it came to sit peacefully on itself, and worked.
The 3 layers of fabric did not make the job easier, and the fact that it is
a very straight dress doesn't allow the usual: "oh well, it is a big
dress so nobody will see the creases/that it is not straight/that it's artistically
done" . The result was well worth it; the veil, made from chiffon, completed
the outfit beautifully. And they were both happy with it.The wedding was amazing.

The next wedding dress I make, though, for ANYONE, will be a ripped dress,
full of bits dangling down and full of inegalities!! Anyone up for one?
