Lisa wasn't too sure at first of what
she wanted for the Apollo gig, but wanted something which would look like a
ballet dancer, with tulle fabric, very tight but big after the hips. She wanted
it torn, and loved this light brown satin fabric of a skirt I had started to
do for them. She also liked a corset I was making at the time, a proper corset
made with bits of paper you pin on fabric...
SO I carried on doing the skirt I had started (shiney satin underneath, soft
lace on top of that, then added some tulle to make it big) and made her a corset
with the lovely satin from the pattern I had, but put holes at the back so the
size was adjustable with the ribbon. One of the panels of the corset was replaced
with a lace pannel, as she suggested, and had agreed it would not be too revealing.
The top of the corset is embellished with a lace ribbon with beads, and the
skirt was attached to the corset, with an opening on the back with a button.
She loved this outfit, and it fitted very well. She actually didn't want to
tear it...I said to her she should really as it was what she wanted(and I m
not yet used to tearing!) but she just changed it by gathering the tulle on
her hip, making a nice little pile with a rose attached to it .It did look fantastic
on the big Apollo stage. (But look? Can you recognise the dress on the photo
3 and 4??? Ooohhh cheek!)
